If you need to take antibiotics, you need to realize that antibiotics kill off infectious agents but they also kill off good, healthy bacteria.

Initially it was believed that you don’t take probiotics while on antibiotics because the antibiotics will kill off any of the healthy bacteria of the probiotic and offset any of the positive effects of taking a probiotic, so people were told not to take probiotics with antibiotics.

Further research has shown that if you take probiotics at a different time than the antibiotics, the probiotics will help to maintain and replenish the good, healthy bacteria in the gut and diminish the amount of die off of the healthy bacteria. Therefore you can take antibiotics and probiotics on the same day, just at different times, separated by at least an hour.
