Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

The Heart Rate Variability testing is an analysis of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). This program gives us a visual representation of the two components of the ANS, the Sympathetic Nerve System (flight or flight, our stress state) and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest, digest, repair). We can see your unique response and see how your ANS is functioning to control your activity at rest and under stress.  This test reflects the body’s regulating process.

When our systems are more stressed, the more imbalance we will see between the
Sympathetic Nervous System (fight or flight, our stress state) and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest, digest, repair).

The body is constantly regulating itself as it is in a continual state of breakdown and repair and needs to do both efficiently to maintain health.  The nervous system must have strength in both stressed and regenerative divisions to maintain optimal health.

The data for evaluation is gathered through computer monitoring of the R-R intervals through a heart rate clip on a finger.  Your doctor will be able to analysis and explain these results.  This allows us to get an overall view into the functioning of your nervous system.

We repeat this test in the future to be able to monitor improvements in your body’s ability to self-regulate in response to stresses.
